Mela originates from the Indian sub continent. The word Mela comes from the sanskrit "to meet" and is related to "milana" the verb to tune. It is commonly used to describe a large gathering of people celebrating artistic, religious or political events - a fair or a festival.
Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning 'gathering' or 'to meet' or a 'fair'. It is used in the Indian subcontinent for all sizes of gatherings and can be religious, commercial, cultural or sport-related. In recent times "Mela" also popularly refers to shows and exhibitions. It can be theme-based, promoting a particular culture, art or skill. Generally in "melas" people can find eateries, entertainment activities, shops and games.

There is NO car parking available at the event site. If you wish to drive to the event, please park in Croydon Town Centre Car Parks and catch a tram to Wandle Park Tram Stop on the event site or alternatively walk to the site which takes roughly 10 minutes from the Town Centre.
Traffic management controls are in place around Wandle Park.All illegally parked vehicles will be subject to penalty charges and being relocated.
- Catch the Croydon Tramlink to Wandle Park from East Croydon, Beckenham Junction and Wimbledon.
- Catch the London Overground to West Croydon and then catch a bus or walk to the event which takes roughly 10 minutes.
- From Central London: Regular express services are available from Victoria Station or London Bridge Station to East Croydon, then catch a tram from East Croydon Tram stop to Wandle Park Tram stop.
- From Croydon, South London and Brighton: There are a range of local rail services available at both East Croydon and West Croydon Stations.
